Over 90 km of road cleared off landmines

Kuito - At least 94 kilometres of road previously believed to be infested with landmines in the central Bié province were cleared out during the first half of this year, by the de-mining company "Cassamba Minas Lda", operating in the region.

 

Speaking Monday to Angop, the "Cassamba Minas Lda" supervisor in Bié province, Manuel Monico, underlined that the project covered the districts of Kuito, Kunhinga and Andulo.

 

According to the official, the de-mining process is already enabling the works, by the company in charge of carrying out rehabilitation works of the same road as well as the circulation of people and goods.

 

During the de-mining operation the referred company also destroyed this month in Kunje, district of Kuito, 10,000 several explosive devices, including anti-tank and anti personal land mines, other unexploded ordnances (UXOs), ammunitions, among others.
